Meet You at Kate's ADDRESS
Kate Duncan Set to Host ADDRESS in May
Thursday, April 7, 2016 — Vancouver, BC For the third straight year, Kate Duncan has gathered an astounding assembly of local makers to collaborate with her and her brand for ADDRESS. Part pop-up shop, part showroom and part gallery, ADDRESS is Vancouver's largest showcase of local makers and artists featuring fine furniture and home accessories. ADDRESS will take place at the iconic Arthur Erickson Waterfall Building in the heart of the Armoury District on May 5- 8, 2016.
Inspired by the work of her peers and competitors alike, local furniture designer and maker Kate Duncan took it upon herself to create an opportunity where this talent could be seen and promoted. ADDRESS is an assembly of designers/makers collectively pushing the boundaries of design and excelling in their craft and construction. Their methods are deeply rooted in refined aesthetics, hands-on craftsmanship and use of exceptional materials resulting in a variety of contemporary pieces. Now in it's third year, ADDRESS is considered a must-see event for the architectural and design community, is a launchpad for new product and attracts more than 400 attendees in just four days.
"We all know Vancouver is home to a thriving, cutting-edge designer/maker community, but we had few opportunities to showcase our work in a way that made sense to our budgets. We're often small studio/workshop grunts with our heads bent, focused on creating the products we loved. We were missing a venue, a stage to attract and educate potential purchasers to the skill involved and quality of the design. So ADDRESS was born."

Participating brands are hand-selected by Duncan. As the event grows each year, it becomes more and more important to stay true to the essence of ADDRESS - focus on the local makers and help provide a leg up within the industry. This year, Duncan has invited local interior designer, Amber Kingsnorth of MāK Interiors to curate the event. This curated approach creates warm, inviting vignettes within the space that allow attendees to revel in design, not just view it. The brands are folded together seamlessly within the grouped collection to create a cultivated ambiance. This takes ADDRESS beyond retail space or showroom experience. One step closer to a modern gallery exhibit. Not only does Kingsnorth run her own up-and-coming interior design firm, but she is also the Co-founder of Designer Happy Hour. She knows what it takes to bring architects and designers together.
"It just makes sense. If our goal is to invigorate, support, and help grow the design community in this city, then we need to involve the design community in the event, work together, and learn from each other."

ADDRESS is also collaborating with The Edit, a boutique collective of antiques and decorative arts. The Edit will pick up where ADDRESS leaves off and will feature a small, select collection of the works from the show's talent pool. The Edit Founder, Jamie Pryde is the youngest member of the prestigious 1stdibs - a collective of the world's best dealers and finest shops. It is an understatement to say Pryde understands the value of good design. He is thrilled to host ADDRESS@TheEdit this year and looks forward to being part of the growth of both brands.
Kate, Amber and Jamie are bound together by their passion for the design industry in Vancouver. It's an all-out, all-hands-on-deck approach to strengthening the community and promoting west coast design.
This year's ADDRESS line-up will feature Kate Duncan and the launch of her new furniture line. (We're told it's very sexy!) There are another five brands launching new product at ADDRESS this year. Attendees will be treated to wonderful textile work by Ana Isabel Textiles, Antipod Workshop, Clothstudio (formerly Ravi Designs), as well as Fabulous Furnishings and Upholstery. Design industry heavyweights Nicholas Purcell Furniture, Ox + Monkey, Pot Inc., Propellor, Russell Hackney, Shipway Living Design, Stefanie Dueck, Steven Pollack, Trevor Mills Woodturning, WoodReform and Zoë Luyendijk in collaboration with Salari Fine Carpet Collections will be featured in the show's vignettes. Add to the mix local artists Lynn Falconer's Physical Attachments and Lauren Mycroft Art. And Green With Envy will add their magic touch with floral design.
